They caught it early, stage 2b, but after a surgery to remove the tumor, it came back and spread to the lungs. Two surgeries later and here we are. He has a tumor in his rectal area that surgeons won't remove because of its location; it's close to a nerve cluster and a lot of other tricky areas that could make him incontinent and impotent. We just celebrated his 38th birthday, but a recent conversation with his oncologist makes me fear we won't see his next. The doc asked if he had his affairs in order, if he wanted to keep fighting or just let things progress naturally. He's a warrior so he said he wanted to fight. I'm worried about more chemo, though. He's in bad shape as it is, and even though the oncologist says he can start chemo next week, I'm afraid it might just knock him down even further. I was hoping someone could suggest any alternative treatment for cancer in the lungs - something that can be inhaled or injected that wouldn't completely destroy him? I'm open to any real, researched suggestions with sources.  Appreciate any help. -LProbably should have discussed the lung part... I'm so flustered and anxious right now I can't think straight. The cancer in the lungs started out as a bunch of tiny nodules. They remained the same size for over a year. They only recently started getting bigger. He was off chemo for some time while he had this last surgery and recovered, and we can definitly notice a difference. He's awake through the night and early morning, coughing, hacking up disgusting bits with blood and mucous. He can't take deep breaths without chest pain, and any activity makes him short of breath.
